The site is landlocked, being surrounded on all four sides by other residential properties and can only be accessed via a low-ceilinged, arched driveway which has flats above and a basement below. These two elements made the site difficult in terms of achieving a design that answered the clients brief and one that also had no adverse effect on the adjoining properties. It also made the construction of the building problematic due to restricted access for men, machinery and materials and generated numerous Party Wall agreements.

The existing office building that occupied the site was demolished and the construction of the new house took 30 months to complete due to the sites constraints.
